Resale royalty right to be considered

16-04-2007

The New Zealand Government is considering options for a resale royalty right for visual artists.

The right, also known as the "droit de suite" or "artist's resale right", entitles visual artists to a royalty payment whenever an original artwork is resold on the secondary market.

A discussion paper on options for the resale royalty right was released on 16 April 2007. The discussion paper is available on the Ministry for Culture and Heritage website. Submissions are due by 22 June.
